How to Use the Discount Calculator

New here? Start by tapping one of the "Examples (click to try)" chips above the input โ€” the original price and discount are filled in and the result appears instantly. Once you're comfortable, just enter your own numbers. The sale price and amount saved recalculate live as you type, so there's no button to press. Tap a "% off" quick chip (10โ€“70%) to set the discount with one click. Great for checking what a sale or coupon really saves you.

  1. Enter the Original price.
  2. Enter the Discount (%), or tap a "% off" chip.
  3. The sale price and amount saved appear right away. Use "Copy Result" to paste it elsewhere.

Worked Example

For an item priced at 1,000 with 20% off, the discount comes to 200 and the sale price is 800. Make it half price (50% off) and you save 500, paying 500. Or switch to "Price โ†’ Rate (reverse)" mode and enter an original price of 1,000 with a sale price of 800, and it shows a 20% discount saving 200.

When This Comes in Handy

  • Sales and coupons: See exactly how much a "% off" tag takes off the price.
  • Reverse check: Look at a receipt and confirm what discount rate you actually got.
  • Comparing deals: Quickly weigh up "30% off" versus "half price" and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the price I enter sent to a server?
No. All calculations happen entirely in your browser. The price and discount you enter are never transmitted to or stored on any external server. You can use this tool with complete confidence.
What does "30% off" actually mean in money?
A discount percentage is the share taken off the original price. For a $50 item, 30% off removes $15, leaving a sale price of $35. Enter values like 10, 30, or 50 in the discount field and the amount saved and final price update instantly.
How are fractional amounts handled?
This tool rounds the sale price and the amount saved to the nearest unit. Because stores may round down or up differently, the total here can differ slightly from the register.
