Choose by task

Text work starts with the outcome: measure a draft, normalize its notation, compare revisions, or prepare a publishing format. Choose the job first and the right tool becomes much clearer. Processing in this category happens in your browser; text pasted into a tool is not uploaded to Benri.dev's servers.

A reliable workflow

  1. Keep a copy of the source and decide the exact destination format.
  2. Test the rule with a short sample, including punctuation and line breaks.
  3. Process the real draft and read the before-and-after result or diff.
  4. After copying, verify formatting, encoding, and length limits in the destination app.

Before you start

  • A joined emoji can have different Unicode-code-point and visible-grapheme counts.
  • A regular expression can match more text than expected, so test it on a small sample first.
  • Conversion cannot guarantee that meaning or typography is preserved; proofread before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

Which character-count tool should I use?
Use Character Counter when you need lines, words, or Japanese manuscript-page estimates. Use Social Post Counter to compare limits for X, Bluesky, Threads, Mastodon, and Instagram. Mora Counter is intended for the sound units used in Japanese haiku and tanka.
Can I paste confidential text?
The tool processing stays on your device. Clipboard history, browser extensions, and shared-device settings are outside Benri.dev's control, however, so check the surrounding environment before handling highly confidential material.
