How to Use the Japan Marketplace Fee Calculator

Currency: every amount on this page is Japanese yen (JPY, ¥) and is rounded to whole yen, because the presets are Japanese marketplaces. There is no currency selector — if you work in another currency, convert to yen first (or use "Custom" purely as a percentage calculator).

Pick a marketplace preset, enter the listing price or the net amount you want to receive, and add any point reward rate if it applies. The selling fee, net revenue and point-adjusted amount update live.

Use this before listing an item on a Japanese flea-market or auction app, or when deciding what listing price is needed to keep a target profit after platform fees.

Example

Mercari listing ¥3,000, 10% fee, 0% points: fee ¥300, net ¥2,700. With 5% points: +150 pts → ¥2,850 equivalent.

Japan-style marketplace fees

The presets are Japan's flea-market and auction apps — Mercari, Rakuma, Yahoo! Flea Market (formerly PayPay Flea Market) and Yahoo! Auctions — which take a percentage of the sale price (Mercari, for example, charges 10%; Rakuma uses a tiered rate of 4.5–10% based on your recent sales, so enter the rate shown in your app). Amounts are in yen, and "points" are the loyalty points these apps credit back, worth ¥1 each. Rates change and can vary by category, so treat the presets as a starting point and confirm the current fee on the platform. For a marketplace that isn't listed, choose "Custom" and enter its rate.

Good For Sellers in Japan

  • Checking whether a listing price still leaves enough net revenue after fees.
  • Working backward from a target net amount to a practical sale price.
  • Comparing Japanese marketplace fee presets before choosing where to list.

Preset Sources and Excluded Costs

Preset rates and rounding are checked against official guidance for Yahoo! Flea Market proceeds, Yahoo! Auctions seller fees, and Rakuma selling fees (last checked July 14, 2026). Confirm the rate and any coupon actually shown in your account before listing.

The estimate includes listing price, selling fee, and the point rate you enter. It excludes shipping, payout or payment fees, packaging, optional promotion, tax obligations, and category-specific charges. Subtract those separately when comparing true proceeds.

Meaning of the Reverse Calculation

Net-target mode repeatedly applies the selected platform's integer-yen rounding and finds the lowest listing price that reaches the target. It does not assess campaign caps, point expiry, buyer costs, or the likelihood of a sale. The final transaction screen takes priority.

FAQ

Are preset fee rates up to date?
Presets are reference values as of July 2026. Fee rates change — check each platform's official site before listing. Rakuma's fee is tiered (4.5–10%) based on your sales history, so enter the rate shown in your app. Custom rates are supported.
How is point cashback calculated?
Listing price × reward rate is added to net payout, assuming 1 point = ¥1.
How are fractions of a yen (rounding) handled?
Based on each platform's official help pages: Mercari rounds the fee down to the yen, while Yahoo! Flea Market and Yahoo! Auctions calculate at pre-tax rates (4.54% / 9.09%), round to the nearest yen, then add consumption tax rounded down. Rakuma and custom rates use simple rounding as an approximation, since no official rule is published. Calculation methods can change, so the actual charged fee may differ by a yen or so.
