Currency Converter (manual rate)

Type in the exchange rate you're looking at and convert an amount between currencies in real time. Because you enter the rate, there's no external call — it works offline and your input never leaves the browser. The reverse conversion is shown alongside.

How to use the currency converter

Enter the amount, the from currency, the to currency, and the exchange rate, and the result updates in real time. The rate is the number in "1 [from] = ? [to]". Not sure where to start? Tap a chip under "Examples (click to try)" and the amount, currencies and rate fill in, with the result shown at once.

Example: set From to "USD", To to "JPY", Amount to 100 and Rate to 150 (1 dollar = 150 yen), and the result reads 15,000 JPY. Change the amount to 250 and it updates to 37,500 JPY without pressing anything. Below the result, the reverse rate appears as "1 JPY = 0.006667 USD".

A faster path: amount and rate convert on every keystroke, and the ⇄ button swaps from/to while inverting the rate. Look up the current rate via a search or your bank/brokerage app, then type that value in.

Handy when you want to

  • Turn an overseas shop or restaurant price into a rough figure in your home currency
  • Plan a trip budget in both the local currency and your own
  • Swap in a new rate to compare how the converted amount moves
  • Do a quick conversion with a rate you noted earlier, even with no connection

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't it fetch the rate automatically?
This site never talks to an external server — everything runs in your browser. So the exchange rate is not pulled from a live API; you enter it yourself. Check the current rate via a search or your bank/brokerage app, then type that value in.
Are my amount and rate sent anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, and your amount, rate and result are never transmitted to or stored on any server. It works offline.
Can it convert the other way (e.g. JPY to USD)?
Yes. The ⇄ button swaps the from and to currencies and inverts the rate automatically. The reverse rate (per single unit) is always shown below the result.
Does it include fees or spread?
No. It multiplies by the rate you enter, so it is a theoretical figure. Actual exchange or transfer amounts vary with fees and spread, so treat the result as a guide.
